The President of Somaliland Lays the Foundation for the New Taiwan Medical Center and Upgrades Hargeisa Hospital

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), today officially laid the foundation for the new Taiwan Medical Center and the modernization of Hargeisa Hospital. This extensive project is funded by the Government of Taiwan and will play a key role in improving the country’s healthcare services.

The foundation-laying ceremony of the Taiwan Medical Center reflected the deep friendship and strong cooperation between Somaliland and Taiwan, with both sides committing to continuously collaborate on advancing healthcare, education, technology, and the development of skills and knowledge across various sectors of the National Forces.

The President delivered a significant speech filled with deep gratitude and a spirit of cooperation, praising the Government and people of Taiwan for their support to the people and nation of Somaliland, particularly in development projects that positively impact the lives of Somalilanders. He stated that Taiwan is a reliable and valued friend.

The President noted that the construction of the new Taiwan Medical Center is a symbol of the genuine friendship between the two countries, praising Taiwan for its commitment to advancing healthcare and other services that benefit the lives of Somalilanders. The Taiwan Medical Center and the modernization of Hargeisa General Hospital will provide high-quality healthcare services, significantly reducing the country’s medical needs and improving the overall quality of healthcare delivery.

On the other hand, the Minister, Deputy Minister, and Director General of the Ministry of Health expressed their deep gratitude to the Government of Taiwan for its support and funding of the new construction and modernization of Hargeisa General Hospital, describing it as a significant step in improving the country’s healthcare services and demonstrating the fruitful cooperation between the two nations.

Additionally, speeches were delivered at the event by Ministers, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Mayor of the Capital, the Governor of Maroodi Jeex, Dr. Edna Adan, the Director of Hargeisa General Hospital, and other distinguished guests, all of whom expressed their deep gratitude to the Government and people of the Republic of Taiwan for funding healthcare services in Somaliland.

For his part, Taiwan’s Representative to Somaliland, Mr. Alen Lou, stated that his country is ready to continue supporting Somaliland, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, technology, and the development of skills across various sectors of Somaliland’s security forces. The ceremony concluded in a friendly atmosphere, highlighting the commitment of both republics to collaborate and support each other in multiple areas, including healthcare, agriculture, technological knowledge, democracy, and more.
