Born in Hargeisa, he has spent more than four decades in public service as a diplomat, parliamentarian, political leader, and statesman dedicated to peace, democracy, and national progress.<\/p>\r\n<p>President Irro holds academic qualifications in Business Administration, African Studies, and Conflict Resolution obtained from institutions in Africa, Europe, and the United States. His early diplomatic career took him to several countries, including Russia, where he served in Somalia\u2019s Foreign Service until the late 1990s.<\/p>\r\n<p>After returning home, he became deeply involved in Somaliland\u2019s political transformation. He served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2005\u20132017, where he championed peaceful political transitions and strengthened multiparty democracy. In 2012, he founded the WADDANI Party, which grew into one of the nation&#8217;s major political movements.<\/p>\r\n<p>In December 2024, President Irro won the national election with a strong mandate and was sworn in as the 6th President of the Republic of Somaliland.<\/p>\r\n<p>Today, President Irro leads with a vision centered on <strong>unity, dialogue, good governance, and sustainable development<\/strong>. His priorities include strengthening national institutions, expanding diplomatic engagement, advancing peace and reconciliation, improving public services, and promoting economic opportunities for all communities.
